Vibrating Floor - 2019
This vibrating floor was created for the Sensory Studio at Three Ways Special School. It is a floating floor mounted on rubber supports and powered by two powerful shaker motors. These motors can be driven with low frequency audio meaning you can feel music with very limited audible sound.
I am currently working on a suite of tools for using vibration effects with SEN children and will eventually link the visual floor projection with the underlying vibration events.
Following this project some smaller scale portable platforms were made for the Aural Diversity project which were used during the first concert at Kelston Roundhill, Bath in July 2019. The feedback from the concert was very positive, with one deaf/blind attendee commenting that his cochlea had responded for the first time in his life.
